I blogged earlier about McDonalds’ cultural adaptations for their menus in Germany, Luxembourg, and Nicaragua. This weekend, I came across another version of the McDonalds Menu in Geneva. This one was the classiest I’ve found yet - gourmet sandwiches on artisan bread with cheese from the elite cheese producer Emmi. From looking a the ad, you’d never even know it was affiliated with McDonalds.

This summer at EWH, we learned during our discussions of poverty and the value of the dollar that one measure for the value of the dollar in each country is comparing the price of a BigMac. Well, Switzerland is said to have the strongest economy in the world, and if anything, the price of their BigMac is a testament to that. 11.50 Swiss francs, which is basically $11.50! Another note, instead of a dollar menu, their cheapest items come from the 2.50 franc menu. And that’s why we picked up our lunch from the grocery store…
